| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Beauty is in the details, and this model captures them all. The DSC-H50 is a full-featured point-and-shoot with outstanding high-power zoom capability. It includes Smile Shutter technology which captures smile the moment they happen, as well as Face Detection technology to optimize focus, exposure and color for up to eight faces. Shoot detailed images with 9.1 megapixel resolution, and bring your subjects closer with the 15x optical zoom Carl Zeiss lens. Intelligent Scene Recognition automatically selects your camera's settings based on detected lighting conditions, while Sony's double anti-blur solution helps keep your images blur-free. The DSC-H50 completes the package with a 3.0" ClearPhoto LCD Plus display that lets you easily view your images and menu options.

Outstanding! January 7, 2009 This camera is simply amazing. I love the kinds of control that is given with the camera, and the interface that is offered with the camera is outstandingly easy to use and understand. With some of the shots that I've taken, especially some of my first, they look SPECTACULAR. In general, many of the shots that I've taken look 'picture-perfect'. The high resolution of the photos make the pictures look spectacular, and some of the ones I've taken - especially since I'm more of a scenery shot person - look surreal, and I really enjoy the way the shots came out.
I especially love how it's considered to be a 'bridge' camera, so that way it already has its own built-in lens and the ability to install and attach its own Sony lens, which will come to be very useful eventually.
All in all, this is an amazing camera.
Just What I ordered January 7, 2009 Based on the other reviews I would say that this product is exactly what I thought I was going to get. It proved to be a great camera for artistic macro photography, and relatively good for every day use. The one downside for me is the delay, but if I didn't want that I should have ordered an SLR. Also the accessories for this camera are clumsy and not very useful, don't buy any of the extra lenses.
Here comes Grandma January 7, 2009 The Sony DSCH50 was purchased as an upgrade to my Canon A80 digital camera that I've used for the past 5 years (not interested in an SLR camera). Although I loved my Canon, my young granddaughter became quicker than the shutter button (the Energizer bunny has nothing on her!). The Burst mode is perfect and I can control the number of shots taken. The Zoom is also great for the wildlife in my area. Wish I had this camera last Spring when a fox family took up residence under our shed (Mama fox didn't want me close to her babies).
I'm still figuring out all the functions but find the Menu and Control buttons to be fairly intuitive. I like having separate buttons for the most used features (zoom, burst, nightshot, playback). The Slideshow button (w/music) is also a nice feature.
The lens cap is a bit of an annoyance since I always forget to remove--first--before turning on the camera. Waiting for Sony to get an LCD screen protector for this model since I'm not sure about how to protect the screen from accidental scratches.
Overall, I'm excited about my Sony DSCH50 digital camera and Amazon had the best price (along with free shipping). What a pair!
not worth it January 6, 2009 I shocked and I didn't like this camera, the color is ok but the resolution is not that good
Super camera! great features December 28, 2008 This camera has great zoom and takes fabulous pictures! My previous camera was a Sony and I have not been disappointed with this one. The tiltable screen is handy. It has many fun features so I have not even used them all!
